Causes of hair loss in Men and Women

FUE Hair Restoration Los Angeles

Millions of men and women in the United States experience hair loss every year, especially as they get older. Though thinning and balding hair is common, it can still be an embarrassing and frustrating problem that often causes people to lose confidence and harms their self-esteem. The reasons for hair loss can differ from person to person.

A common cause of thinning or loss of scalp hair is a genetic predisposition. Certain diseases, lack of certain vitamins and minerals in the diet, constant stress, injuries, and other factors can also provoke a problem. Some types of alopecia in the initial stages can be treated with special preparations, external means to stop baldness, and hardware procedures. But most often, only surgery can solve the problem.
Surgical hair restoration, known as a hair transplant, is the most effective way to restore a person’s natural hair after hair loss. Here, at The Hair LA, we offer one of the latest hair transplantation methods known as FUE hair transplant.

What is FUE hair transplants?

FUE stands for Follicular Unit Extraction or Excision. For 15 years, this method has become one of the most preferable procedures for all patients.

FUE hair transplantation is the redistribution of permanent, living, and growing hair follicles from the “Donor” area into a thinning or balding “Recipient” area of the scalp. FUE is a harvesting technique that is less invasive than traditional strip or linear harvesting which requires no scalpel or stitches in the Donor Area.

Recovery from FUE procedures is more comfortable and less restrictive than with linear or strip harvesting. The vast majority of patients require absolutely NO strong pain medications during their recovery and can return to non-impact athletic physical activity in just several days.

What makes FUE hair transplants different?

SmartGraft is the fastest, most advanced hand-held device for minimally-invasive FUE Follicular Unit Extraction hair transplant procedures, allowing for the individual harvesting of follicular unit grafts directly from the Donor Area of the scalp without leaving a linear scar or “zipper” appearance.

Working just like a precise microsurgical extension of the human hand, SmartGraft’s ergonomic handpiece and storage system was designed to help separate, extract and store FUE grafts during hair transplantation. Fewer steps, and less handling and transferring of grafts allow the FUE procedure to be accomplished at a faster speed. Shorter FUE procedure time means reduced risks of graft failure and poor growth quality, as well as enhanced patient comfort.

Benefits of FUE Hair Transplant

No scars

One of the key benefits of the FUE method is that it leaves no scars. There may be only minor punctate scarring or depigmentation in the donor area. However, such marks are not visible to the naked eye, even with a carefully shaved head.

Less postoperative discomfort

After the FUE procedure, there is less postoperative discomfort. It is carried out without incisions and sutures. This allows the postoperative period to pass without serious complications.

Transplantation at low donor density

The FUE method allows hair transplantation even with low hair density in the donor area. This is achieved by harvesting individual grafts from the donor area or harvesting from areas of the body with BHT (Body Hair Transplantation). Areas such as the chest, beard, and leg/arm may be collected for the FUE procedure.

Higher density of follicular units

The grafts transplanted during the FUE hair transplant procedure consist of more follicles. This is due to the fact that the surgeon can selectively act on high-density multi-follicular grafts, consisting of 3-4 hair roots. Studies show that the hair/follicle ratio after the FUE procedure by an experienced surgeon is 3, as opposed to 2 for the FUT procedure.
